Who are you ?
I am a French software engineer, living in Ireland for more than 12 years... which explains my weird accent!

What do you do for a living ?
I am managing a few teams of awesome people who look after the Poppulo production systems, and everything around it: monitoring, continuous delivery tooling etc. I love working with development teams to get them to care about production environments: because this is where real things happen!

What do you want to speak about at FlowCon ?
I want to speak about the need of becoming more comfortable with failure, especially when working with the complexity that comes with distributed systems. In my experience, a critical part of building applications is acknowledging that we cannot possibly prepare for everything... but there are ways to be ready for it. My talk will go through how we can build system with observability in mind (using metrics, high-cardinality logging, distributed tracing...) in order to have the right tools to understand how our applications really behave.

What would make you say “waouh” at the end of the conference ?
As a speaker, great discussions after the talk is what I enjoy the most. As an attendee, I think the "wow" moments are these special talks that changed how I work, how I build software and most importantly how I interact with people - I'm sure there will be a few of these at FlowCon!

What will make you think that attendees have learnt a lot during your session ?
If people get back to work and decide that instrumenting their applications is more valuable than chasing that last 1% test coverage :)
